So, moving to the south took some adjusting to. Mainly getting used to being away from family, still getting used to married life, learning to tolerate the hot summers, and changing jobs. What's a little more strange to comprehend is the fact that they call off schools and close businesses and/or churches with just a threat of snow!
Not even kidding...Monday evening it was about 45 degrees out and the sky was partly cloudy; but beginning probably around 6:30 p.m. closings started appearing at the bottom of the screen. By 9:00 my school was closed and it had just begun raining! Now, it is a good thing that school was called off because we woke up to a winter wonderland (NC style). We got probably 3 inches of snow and it continued to snow all the way until 1:00 in the afternoon on Tuesday. Some places got 6 inches throughout the day! To all of us MI people, 3 inches doesn't sound too bad, right? Well to the NC people, that is a blizzard! They are not equipped with all the snow plows like the northern states, nor do people know how to drive in it. Pat still had to go to work and braved the roads in the Trailblazer, utilizing the 4-wheel drive and said that the roads were still horrible!
Come Tuesday evening, school was cancelled yet again for Wednesday! And come Wednesday evening, school for Thursday was...just delayed 2 hours, this time! Yes, 2 1/2 days off for 3 inches of snow! I know it's hard, but believe it! :)
So, I had a wonderful extended weekend considering I had Monday off too for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The highlight of having Tuesday off was getting to watch the inauguration! It was very interesting to see history made.
It's been a while since the last post, but I hope every one's new year is off to a great start!
Until next time...
